|Few of My Favorite Things Friday| Breakfast At Tiffany's

This movie is my all time favorite movie. In fact I own this movie on DVD and VHS, yes folks they still exist! In fact I was watching this movie on Netflix the other day too (I may need an intervention soon) but I just can't get enough of this movie. You know in the romantic comedies when the leading gal is down because of her boo-thang she is watching an old romantic flick in black and white where the couple is embracing and living happily ever after?! Well Breakfast at Tiffany's is my go-to-movie when I feel down and especially my go-to-movie when I have the "mean reds" as Holly Golightly would say. Even when I'm happy I like to watch this movie for inspiration from the interior design in Paul Baby's apartment or Holly's wardrobe...I could gush about this movie all day!! So in honor of Tiffany & Co. and their 175th celebration I am going to let you in on some of my fave quotes from the movie...

Holly Golightly You know those days when you get the mean reds?
Paul Varjak The mean reds, you mean like the blues?
Holly Golightly No. The blues are because you're getting fat and maybe it's been raining too long, you're just sad that's all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you're afraid and you don't know what you're afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?
Paul Varjak Sure.
Holly Golightly Well, when I get it the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffany's. Calms me down right away. The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there. If I could find a real-life place that'd make me feel like Tiffany's, then - then I'd buy some furniture and give the cat a name!

Holly Golightly You could always tell what kind of a person a man thinks you are by the earrings he gives you. I must say, the mind reels.

Paul Varjak You know what's wrong with you, Miss Whoever-you-are? You're chicken, you've got no guts. You're afraid to stick out your chin and say, "Okay, life's a fact, people do fall in love, people do belong to each other, because that's the only chance anybody's got for real happiness." You call yourself a free spirit, a "wild thing," and you're terrified somebody's gonna stick you in a cage. Well baby, you're already in that cage. You built it yourself. And it's not bounded in the west by Tulip, Texas, or in the east by Somali-land. It's wherever you go. Because no matter where you run, you just end up running into yourself.

Holly Golightly It's useful being top banana in the shock department.

Holly Golightly A girl can't read that sort of thing without her lipstick.

I could go on and on and on about the quotes and little tidbits about this movie for days but instead I am going to leave you with encouragement to go and see the movie for yourself if you haven't yet!!

| Wardrobe Wednesday | An Audrey Hepburn Moment

Audrey Hepburn eating her breakfast in front of Tiffany & Co. in NYC is one of the most iconic scenes of cinema and pop culture history. The moment I saw Miss Audrey elegantly climb out of that yellow taxi cab and float towards the Tiffany's window sipping on her coffee I was hooked. So this outfit is inspired by the night before having breakfast at Tiffany's and of course this outfit makes me feel a little like the Lovely Hepburn herself.
Black Peep-Hole Top | I got this top from my friend Ashley ( I get a lot of fabulous goodies from that girl!)
Pearls | I got it from my, seriously I really did ;-)
Mini Tiara & Feathers | I can't exactly remember where I got these but thought they would add that extra Audrey touch since she wears something similar in the beginning scene of the movie. I added the feathers for two reasons:
1.) My hair is terribly short and the feathers add more to the volume with an extra unique touch.
2.) The feathers went with the fur shrug that I decided to throw in with the outfit.

Fur Shrug | Kohls SimplyVera (I'm totally in LOVE with this shrug but I haven't had the chance to wear it yet, hence the tag still being attached.)
Green Sparkle Heels | Betty Paige

Lace | Thrift store
Until next time my Dah-lings!
Stay Lovely,

|Wardrobe Wednesday| Breakfast Fashion at Tiffany's

As I continue this week's inspiration from Tiffany & Co. I have put together a couple of outfits to hopefully inspire YOU!

I don't have much of that Tiffany's blue in my closet. Let's face it over half of my closet is black. I keep telling myself that I am not allowed to buy any more items in black. I also have to tell myself that I need to wear more than black as well. So this outfit not only was inspired by the Tiffany blue hue but also I imagined eating breakfast in the wee morning hours and this outfit sort of jumped off the hangers in my closet. I like mixing patterns and adding the unexpected with my outfits.

Royal Blue Heels | Target Mossimo Scarf | Coach Top | The Limited Pink Blazer | Thrift Store B&W Striped Blazer | TJ Max ( I actually got this from my bestie Ashley check out her ah-MAZING fashion blog ) Jeans | Deb

I think the slight dash of stripes adds a little eccentric energy to this outfit and the blue "C's" from the Coach scarf and the matching blue hue add a little extra POP! What do you think?
Stay tuned for the Sassy outfit inspired by Tiffany's!!

Eating Breakfast at Tiffany's

I simply adore Audrey Hepburn and for my 20th birthday a friend of mine gave me the Audrey Hepburn poster where she is eating breakfast outside of Tiffany & Co. Well my Audrey poster and I have been many places since then and since I finally have my own place again I figured she deserved a special spot dedicated to her. I rent an apartment that I am absolutely in love with and have so many ongoing decorating projects but the one that has my heart is my dining room. Or should I say Audrey's room. The theme of my dining room decor is Breakfast at Tiffany's, I thought it appropriate since every morning I can feel like I'm munching on my morning oats in the lap of luxury. There's still a lot to be done but I wanted to give a sneak peak...
I plan to re-upholster the red captain's chair in a satin black and white polka dot fabric. And I want to make a table cloth that will be a turquoise satin along with the white lace. I was also thinking of adding a ruffle around the edge for the table cloth. I want to make two different kinds of seat covers for the chairs. The two that are side by side will be the same design and the other chair will be different fabrics. I picked up an old window on the side of the road that I am going to refinish and hang it in front of the Audrey poster so it looks like she is really looking through the window and of course I have to add the "Tiffany & Co." logo to the window to give it added appeal.

Napkin Holder and Napkins from Ikea. I wanted to add little splashes of pink to accent the turquoise and these napkins were so hard to resist! The gems, I got at a thrift store.
Candle holders from Michaels and I practically stole them! I think I paid like $3.00 each on clearance. I love Love LOVE having candles lit around my house especially during the chilly winter months!

I got these Tiffany & Co. boxes from a thrift store and thought they would be PERFECT for my dining room decor! I've also become a collector of little glass birdies...they are so darn cute!!
And here is some more inspiration as I continue my project...

|Few of My Favorite Things Friday| Fitness Fun

Hello Ladies! I've been trying to keep up with my blog, school, work, and the businesses. It's definitely a work in progress but I'm slowly getting a start on this blogging schedule. For Friday's I want to feature a few of my favorite things, if you follow me on Facebook or Twitter than you know that this is a frequented hash tag that I use. (Wow that was a lot of "F" words and none of them were obscene!) So this week I want to share one of my favorite things!! I hope you adopt this as one of your new faves...

So I stepped on the scale the other day and almost fainted at the numbers that were flashing back at me. So once again I have decided to really get down to business and slim down to SASS!! I've made this decision before but feel that this time I have more of a commitment and some great tools to help me out. Since my surgery I have had my membership on hold but plan on getting that started back up on Monday. Tuesday me and my bestie Ashley Ash are going to get hypnotized to help with weight loss! I've always wanted to try this but never took the thought seriously until I got an email with a LivingSocial offer through Living Lite Hypnosis Center. It was a good price so I couldn't resist! I'll definitely have to let you guys no how it goes when I go and "Get sleeepyy veeery sleeepy!"

Some other things I've been focusing on during my slim down to Sass:
  • Push fluids!
    • Lots of water with lemon. Lemon is a natural cleanser and it tastes so refreshing. I drink at least one glass of water before, during, and after meals to help me feel more satisfied sooner and it helps with the digestion of your meal.
    • Did you know that if you drink a glass of warm water in the morning it helps to wake up your body by activating and hydrating. I have been doing this before my morning coffee to cut back on the caffeine.
    • Tea for two and two for tea! I love me some tea!! It has so many great benefits for your body and there is something about tea that soothes my soul. I have been drinking tea at night with a dash of honey to satisfy my midnight sweet tooth. It has been helping!!
  • Tightening the CORE!
    • When I walk around or am sitting or just about anytime of the day I am trying to be more aware of my core and keeping it tight!
    • Planks suck, but they are amazing for your core and I've been trying to do two 30 second planks twice a day.
  • Listen to the body!
    • Portion control is important but knowing when you feel satisfied is vital. I've been eating slower and with all of the added water sips in between bites I've been able to really focus on when to put down the fork/spoon/chopsticks. (Whatever tickles your palette.)
  • Move your body!
    • I've been doing a lot more dancing. It releases endorphins and gets the blood flowing. When I do the dishes, I dance. When I brush my teeth, I dance. When I drive, I dance.
    • I set up a system to track my workouts. I set aside a mason jar and for every complete workout I put a dollar in the jar. I don't always have time for a full hour so every ten minute interval gets a dime in the jar. I made a list of fitness desires like some Barre and  Yoga classes and some new workout gear. So when I have worked out enough, my workout money will go towards one of my rewards. Not only does this save my wallet some unnecessary purchases, let's be honest in reality if I didn't have to work hard for these items I would buy them and they would go to waste, but it also helps motivate my workouts.
    • I've also been incorporating one of my new "Favorite Things" into my daily routine. Drum roll please...
This week's "Few of my Favorite Things Friday" presents Pick Your Spot Pilates. I discovered this awesome workout DVD (actually Ashley Ash introduced it to me) that gives you a great 30 minute workout that targets your abs, buns, and thighs. Each segment is ten minutes long and is perfect for the busy girl that wants to squeeze into a fitness (and into her skinny jeans) routine. If you are like me and get super busy during the morning I pop this DVD in and do one of the segments to start the day and will finish the DVD at different times during the day when I can. I also try to add other workouts to this one but this is a great start to getting your fitness motivation! Plus it's pretty inexpensive, I think I found it on Amazon for under $10.00. So go check it out and work that body!!

| Wardrobe Wednesday | A Day in the Life of a Nordeastern

Living in NE Minneapolis has given me  a true sense of home. Everyone seems so free and non-judgemental. Plus I get to dress up in ways I would second guess in the suburbs. Yesterday was election day and this Lady got her VOTE on!! I hope you did as well. Being a Lady I felt it absolutely necessary to vote since so many Ladies have fought for our right to do so. So my outfit for Election day had a slight patriotic inspiration but with that Nordeastern flair!
Lips: MAC Russian Red Lipstick
Hair: Pinned Back with a Red Flower Crochet Headband

Pants: Black Leggings from Target (Yes, I wear leggings as pants.)
Top: Target Clearance
(For my patriotic theme I substituted the blue for this blue-green in my shirt I think that's where a dash of that NE comes in!)
I love the criss-cross detail on the sleaves.

Had to rep my "I Voted" sticker ;-) the most patriotic part of my outfit.

Boots: I got these online I can't remember the site but I'm totally in LOVE!!
